The painting marks the soft launch of the new Southcamp Brewhouse in Dunsborough. Bursting with explosive bubble-gum colours and bold Pop imagery, the painting is a fun sugar rush that pits the world’s most powerful drug kingpin against the ocean’s deadliest creature, the great white shark.

Romeo’s clever mash-up of El Chapo and the shark perfectly encapsulates the drug lord’s reputation as an apex predator during his reign as the infamous leader of the Sinaloa cartel. Prior to his capture and arrest in 2016, El Chapo was renowned for his uncanny ability to survive intense shootouts and escape from the clutches of the law, a point highlighted with sly wit in the work’s title Bullet Proof Flow.
