I am a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. I see children, adolescents and young people up to the age of 18. I have a special interest in ADHD, Autism, Anxiety and Mood Disorders. I provide my patients with a comprehensive assessment and treatment plan, which is holistic and caring.

My treatment plan is informed by an understanding of family relationships, child development, and social relationships. Where indicated I can deliver a combination of medication management, individual psychotherapy, and family therapy. I am a Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrist’s accredited supervisor; I am involved in supervising, teaching and training of medical students, trainee psychiatrists, and other mental and physical health professionals.

I am a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Clinical Lecturer. I assess and manage children and adolescents (up to their 18th birthday) with a wide range of mental disorders. I aim to provide my patients with a comprehensive, responsive and holistic care. My work is informed by attachment and family relationships and I provide diagnosis, expert medication management and psychological therapy for all children and adolescents with mental health problems.

I have particular expertise in the management of mood disorders, anxiety disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders including ADHD and Autism spectrum disorders. I am also skilled in providing CBT for mood and anxiety disorders in children as well as family therapy for a wide range of mental disorders.I am a Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrist’s accredited supervisor; I am involved in supervising, teaching and training of medical students, trainee psychiatrists, and other mental and physical health professionals.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists are doctors who specialize in the assessment and treatment of mental disorders in children and adolescents. Almost 1 in 7 Australian children suffer from a mental disorder. ADHD is the most common mental disorder in Australian children followed by anxiety disorders and depressive disorders. Children need to be understood in various contexts- developmental, educational, social and cultural to name but a few. We will undertake a thorough assessment of your child and bring together all factors in order to make a diagnosis and plan treatment. We will provide some or all aspects of the treatment plan in discussion with you. Our expertise and areas of interest are detailed in these pages.

We are currently only available on Saturdays. We will, therefore, not be able to offer emergency psychiatric care. We will also not provide treatment for severe psychotic illnesses or drug and alcohol use as these difficulties require more in-depth care that cannot be offered only once a week.

Cygnet Clinic has been established from a group of highly trained and experienced private practitioners recruited nationally and is one of the largest clinics of its kind in Western Australia.

We are an established practice, with our core group of clinicians practicing in the Midland and Fremantle areas for over a decade. - The clinic adopted this name as a reflection of the Swan area where our main office is located. Medicare based referrals cover the majority of our fees. As a private practice we do not offer any bulk-billed services.

We are experienced in treating a wide range of Psychological conditions from Major Depression, Anxiety, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder to specific behavioural problems in children. We have recruited a team of clinicians based on their special interests and expertise.

Our practitioners are Consultant Psychiatrists or postgraduate trained Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologists,

Meaning they all hold a minimum of 6 years of university training (minimum Masters degree in Clinical Psychology or up to 12 years for Doctoral or PhD Degree Holders.

Given our profile, we are trained in dealing with complex referrals and have an emphasis on evidence-based practice. Referrals under Workers' Compensation and Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance are also accepted. We encourage clients to (anonymous or otherwise) so we can continue to improve our service to the community.

We believe that a General Practitioner is best able to meet their patients mental health needs through a multidisciplinary team based arrangement. An individualised patient-centred plan may be matched to the Mental Health support required (for example a patient may only require a Psychologist, others a might only need a Psychiatrist, and in some cases a patient would benefit from both professions working together).

Psychologists are experts in providing assessment and therapy for a range of conditions. They are university trained to a minimum 6 years Masters Degree plus a registrar period of 2 years for those with endorsed titles.

Consultant Psychiatrists are Medical Doctors with further specialist training in mental health. One main difference is that Psychiatrists can prescribe medications whilst Psychologists do not.
